I spoke to 'el Presidente' before he disappeared on his trip to Europe. It went like this.....

My thoughts on the extended RTE extravaganza I have proposed for July in the past. As we have had a couple of North South runs I thought it might be fun to do a West to East Extravaganza. The start point would be the car park/turning point at Neist Point on Skye, 12 noon on Saturday. The finish point will be Ness Point at Lowestoft 12 noon on Sunday. The shortest route by land and bridges is 1025 kilometres. This will allow those that want to, to break their journey at about 8pm at a well known location at Castleford and possibly socialise. The remaining distance to Lowestoft can be covered in about 4 hours on Sunday. This avoids the necessity of long motorway runs.

For those riders who would rather be riding than socialising I propose a detour via LE, Gordano and Clackets. This will give the ride an 'extra end' and push the total distance up to 2000km. This distance is the longest standard ride in 24 hours (that I am aware of). 'El Presidente' has agreed to sign the km certificates within the UK for this special West-East Extravaganza, With Extra End 2000km. (The WEE WEE 2000km).

I intend to stay at the Premier Inn, Fort William on the Friday night and ride up to Skye on the Saturday morning.

I will start a list if anyone is interested in this two route ride.

Still places available. There are also other hotels. I will be arriving at about midnight so need a hotel with 24 hour reception, hence my choice.

For those looking for a premier inn for this trip there are several in Inverness which is about the same distance (perhaps less) to Skye and usually at least one of them are doing cheap rates once the "saver" dates are released....

It's civilized. One can have breakfast before starting. Lets me ride up from London Friday evening/Saturday morning. Gives a decent time to Castleford for those that want to do the 1000km ride and allows them to have breakfast before continuing to Lowestoft. Permits those riding home after Lowestoft to have a few hours ride on Sunday.

Can you magic me up a nice Event Photo I can put on BookFace? Maybe the start point, or something nice on Skye?

Looking 'south' at the west of Skye. Neist Point Lighthouse is behind the rocky ridge on the right of the image. Courtesy of Google.

At the moment, I think I'm going to be somewhere in the Baltic region though hopefully not in the middle of the Sea!
If plans change, I will put my name down.
