Coffee Ride Questions

#1
Looking at putting a couple of coffee cup rides together. Most of which are probably me just over thinking it.

1. Each coffee selfie must be at least 150 miles apart. Is the 150 miles road miles or radial miles (as the crow flies)?
2. Your ride ends at your last coffee location stop ... Each coffee selfie must be at least 150 miles apart. Does this mean that your first and last stop can not be the same establishment?
I understand that 4 separate coffee establishments are required. The plan would be to hit four roasters on the outbound leg and return to the start point for the return leg. If each establishment must be physically 150 miles apart it would be necessary to route in straight line rather than an out and back run. Unless of course you made a 250 Mile per side square.

1. It means you need to ride at least 150 miles between coffee selfies. If there were two coffee locations across the street from each other, you could take a selfie at the first one, ride 75 miles out and 75 miles back, and take a selfie at the other coffee stop location.

2. As the rules state, for the Coffee Cup 1000, "Drink coffee at 4 different permitted locations - 24 hours [emphasis added]" So no, you cannot use the same location for two different stops. But that doesn't preclude you from planning an out-and-back route as long as all the coffee locations are different.

Ira, thanks for the quick reply. The plan was to make 5 stops. The first and last the same. Three different ones in between, Four different permitted locations total. The last being same as the first .... not sure how that fits in the requirement for 4 different stops.

The rules further state

"Your ride ends at your last coffee location stop"

So clearly, the intent for the CoffeeCup 1000 is for you to complete the ride between your first coffee stop and your last (4th) coffee stop, not at some point after that.

DBR question. So as it turns out most small independent coffee shops are using some sort of POS solution (ie square, toast, etc...) . Many of these do not generate a receipt but instead email or text a receipt to the customer.

What's the reading on using an email receipt?

We would much prefer one printed on-site - email receipts are too easy to fake.

Remember that it is up to you to demonstrate you met the requirement. So you might consider additional documentation, such as a photo at the coffee shop. Can't hurt. :)
