The Annual 36hr Brit Butt Rally is a photographic rally. It starts and finishes in the midlands. Riders can expect to travel all over the UK visiting places they have never seen before.
Riders arrive on Friday to check in. Rally books are issued on Friday night. Riders chose their own routes to collect points from photographing various locations
in the rally book. The ride starts at 6am Saturday morning and finishes Sunday evening at 6pm. The winner is the one who plans and executes the most efficient route in the time to gain the most points. There is also a sleep bonus where you can gain points from sleeping.
Certificates are presented to all finishers at the end of rally banquet on Sunday evening. On Bank Holiday Monday riders head home.

Entry now open www.Britbuttrally.info

Your Rally Master for the 2nd year will be Iron Butt Rally veteran

Do you mean riding places and taking pictures?

Need I say any more.

If we've got to collect items during the rally I'll need to know dimensions first so I can make changes to my packing regime

I'm sure I could get a pineapple or other fruit shaped alloy box made up and bolted on somewhere, so long as you give me a few weeks notice John

Nice one Lee

For a bike dragging a trailer that actually looks
quite good. Although a small fold up rucksack
would make more sense for the rally

John is well into planning next years Brit Butt Rally

The website is being revised

A new Premier in has been located in Leicester with a larger bar and meeting room

After the success of the Iceni rally we expect to have a full entry list. Entry will be on a first come first served basis. So don't delay your entry or you could miss the boat.

Yes I am - and more to the point Phil has given me the "go-ahead" for all of the things I have planned for you

Personally, I thought he would have said "no" to at least two of them - but he's allowed them all through !!

So, when on the Saturday night / Sunday morning you find yourself in the arse-end of no-where, you now know who to blame .....

Just had my confirmation email so see all you other nutters again next May

Now just got to sort my newly acquired oil leak on the Beemer
Looks like it's going to be expensive
(main balancer shaft seal and split the bike in half to get to it).

Maybe I should have bought an Explorer instead

That didn't take long first entry 4 minutes after it went live and without
us telling you all it was open, was that just lucky or are you all sadder
than I thought watching a page that only changes twice a year

Rooms booked too

Yes we are now accepting entries for the Brit Butt Rally 2016.

The rally will start and finish nr Leicester.

Entry fee is reduced this year so you can make use of a meal deal on Saturday evening.

Full details will be sent out within a couple of days of you entering.

We expect the entries to go up after the success of the Iceni Rally so don't delay if you are thinking of entering

There is rally stuff at the National meeting in a few weeks. You can come along to just the Saturday daytime stuff if your not into Christmas dinners.

I'd prefer nice far away locations in Scotland ) Single malt, please
FJRPilot said:

There wasn't a huge number of locations up there this year so maybe 2016 will be different.

A photo and receipt from a Whisky Distillery would be a first I think, but you wouldn't need to go all the way up to Scotland for that as we have our very own here in the East.

In fact I remember John asking me all about it during the Iceni Rally

And by previous year's records of alternating weather 2016 should be another wet one

No, no Mark - use the power of positive thought.

It will be dry and sunny, the roads will be empty and the points will be
plentiful.

Peace out.

This will be my first rally. Entry confirmed and room booked for both
Friday and Sunday. Really looking forward to it. Have bought a 2003
Multistrada to prepare for it so will do all the reading and preparation I
can before May so I can have a wee test ride i plenty of time. The bike
is a good runner, just needs titivating.

Good man Jack. I'm sure you'll have a blast and you've got plenty of time to sort everything. If you want to ask anything about the rally or preparation put a post on the forum as there's plenty of us willing to answer any questions.

If you can make it the Christmas meeting in a couple of weeks at Coventry would be a great way to find out more

Good to have you along Jack.

To all those who have booked their rooms I hope you also
booked the meal deal for Sunday night. If you haven't read
my last email again.

In all Iron Butt type rallies reading comprehension is
essential. Read it once then read it again is always a
good policy.

If anyone has any issues email me [email protected]

Or to put it another way - always take everything literally, also "know your enemy" is another good analogy

When I sat down for the meal last year I asked the others on my table if they had their flags with them, after some strange looks they scurried off to their rooms to retrieve said items. Fast forward 30 minutes and they thanked me for my spider senses

Unfortunately this year because
of having work to do that
weekend, I shall have to take a
year out. I will very much miss
the rally as it a major part of
my motorcycling year. I can
already see the the sighs of
relief knowing that a contender
for the top spot won't be there.
Best of luck to all the
entrants. Not to mention those
who organise and manage the
event so brilliantly.

Okay, so I am gonna be a last minute.com entry again this year and looking forward to improving my finish position. Telling you guys, I am gonna win this ferkin thing by the time I am 85 but this year 25th or under will be a result in the right direction.

Tell me though, am I not seeing a link or something? Seems there was a lot more excitement around this time for previous rallies. I know John has been tied up with Tureg and such but I can't believe all his bonus checkers (santas little helpers) are so silent. WTF LOL

Be lucky, Iain

What bonuses checkers? All done over the stormy Easter weekend so we know it's doable in bad weather. Rally book being finalised

Well this will be my first rally, looking forward to it but ever so nervous (having a 4 hour criminal law exam on the morning of the start is not ideal either but ho hum).

I would ask what is the worst that could happen but I fear the rally master would take it as a challenge (I have learned that much already).

I've learnt over the years never to try and second guess what the rally theme actually means, what and where the bonus locations are, or what the rally master will get us to do.

I've lost count of the hours spent researching all the Monty Python film locations etc so I don't worry about it now. What will be will be :)

I think the only things that are certain are that we'll do a fair bit of riding that weekend, take plenty of photographs, and once we've finished wonder how on earth the podium finishers spotted a high scoring route that we all missed :(

Roll on the end of May :D It's not long now.

Hi gents for a number of reasons I have not been able to get out on the bike much this year but I am looking forward to trying the rally again this year for the second time. I know it will be tough going but up for the challenge.

Hmmm, getting a new bike 1 month before the Rally may not seem the wisest move - I'm not sure I've thought this through
I think you're right Lee. Maybe you should help the rally staff this year instead of riding ;) :D Robert could give you a hand too? It would be good practice for when he runs the Alpenbutt Rally

#17
You might be right Mark, a fallow year would probably be good for me:

On top of a new un-farkled bike I've also barely ridden this year as had a gentle dismount off-road about 2 months ago and my foot is still hurting, especially in bike boots. Perhaps we could subtitle the BBR as The Nurofen Challenge.

No Robert, it's a KTM - orange is the new black apparently

I must admit when I had my accident in 2014 and decided to help the rally staff it was certainly an eye opener into what goes on behind the scenes, and also helps you understand just what the rallymaster's thought processes are (well maybe?).

I'm sure the foot will continue to improve over the next month or so.

What KTM is it? Another sporty job or an adventure version?

#20
Yeah it did help to see how it all worked and where people were losing points when I helped out a few years ago.

An 1190 Adventure, should do the job.
