BMW GSA New Tire Options

I have been looking for better options for the rear tire on my 2019 GSA mainly to get better mileage but also a larger footprint. When I had my BMW RT I had someone make a rear wheel spacer so I could mount a car tire on it and it worked great. So, I had the same person, Jim Ryan, make a spacer for my GSA so I could try different types of tires on it and see what gives me the best feel and mileage. The spacer with extra bolts arrived today.

What tire/size are you using?

I ran a 180/55R17 for 9,000 miles and it felt good. The 180 did not need the spacer I had made it fit just fine. The GSA worked better in the mountains with the 180 tire.

Right now, after coming back from Panama I have an OEM size tire mounted as it was what was available at a good price.

Some time this summer I am going to mount a 190/55R17 and it will require the spacer I had made and I will report back then.

I have installed one of these kits, and my only word of caution is that the bolts are cut very square so you need to be careful not to cross thread them. But the kit does work.
