One thing I did about a week before I left home for my 48 state trip was sign the wife and myself up for an app called Life 360 on our phones. The app tracks your phone in real time so my wife could see my little blue dot going down the highway or when I had stopped in a hotel at night. It was only about $5.00 per month per phone and we cancelled it after I returned. She could zoom into the goggle earth app it used and actually see the blue dot going down the highway and see the same scenery and road I was going down. You could also print out every 6 or 8 hours of
the exact route you took when you got home and it had all the time stamps on each leg of the trip. I would highly recommend it on a trip such as this.
