Great Lakes Challenge Gold Question

GREAT LAKES CHALLENGE GOLD.
I just happened to see the pins when I was rechecking the requirements for this ride we're planning this summer. The best I can come up with is 2555 miles, however I noticed on the pin it says 2432. The plan was to start in DeKalb IL and pick up my partner along the route in Chicago (or vice a versa). That's about two hours less. I can't see any way to trim the route to get that. Any suggestions or routes? I did add about 9 minutes in upper right to get our tires in Quebec

I am planning on the same ride for this summer. I will be starting from the north shore of Lake Superior. I have punched the ride into a spread sheet. A straight copy into the reply did not work well so I pasted each row below. The start, stop of each leg, distance of leg, cumulative distance. Total run is 2412

So when TeamStrange did the group GLC in 2002: from Arnprior we went south on 29/15 and it looks like your route goes east to 416. From Wawa we went east on 101 to 129 instead of staying near the lake on 17. (Be aware that there may be no gas at night between Wawa and Thessalon). Also it looks like west of Chicago you take I-88 to I-39, we did I-90.
