Hello all, just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Mike bus most folks call me "BONES". I am from Victoria, Texas and been ridding since 1980 when I bought my first motorcycle. Through the years I did long rides but it was years later when I found out about the Iron Butt Association.

My first documented ride was in 2006 from my house to Monument Colorado. After that, I stopped doing any documented rides, mostly just trying to see if I can do it.

The wife and I regularly do 600-800 mile days but she does not really care for anything over that.

I have really been looking at some rides and thanks to Ya'll, I have plenty to read about. I've been reading some of your personal web paged and it's a great help so for you that do a blog or write-ups about different trips...Thank You.

You can do a Bun Burner riding 800 mile days. 800 miles, get a room and sleep a few hours, ride another 800 miles.

Welcome Bones!

I'm missing a whole paragraph of my post! Not sure what happened, but anyway...
Last year I wanted to do a ride for a theme ride but I had a schedule conflict. April come along and could not get away on the day I wanted to. May and June came and went. Tried to get out on the Summer Solstice day but had other irons in the fire. The Eclipse day, yep...busy. July came along and never could find the time. August and I was looking at the Ides Ride. I planned a ride and did it. I was soooo happy. Told all my ridding buddy's and they all shake their heads and ask WHY?
September came along and I was chatting with the one who lets me go places :) and I told her that if I did the Ides ride every month I can get a "special" certificate, suitable for framing for doing a ride on a certain day of every month. I wanted her blessing and to MAKE SURE that if I commit to it, I am going to do it.
Last week I did my twelve months in a row. I missed a couple of important days while I was gone, I missed a funeral of someone VERY close as she buried her dad, I missed a vacation that my wife wanted to go on but I did my twelve in a row rides.
My wife knows I will still do rides here and there but as I keep reminding her that I had her blessing to go, I will pick dates that do not require a one year commitment.

Welcome, Bones! That’s an awesome story — sounds like you’ve had some incredible miles under your belt since 1980. It’s great that you and your wife still enjoy those long rides together.
