Spot renewal

I've been carrying a PLB in my stitch leg pocket for more years than I can recall. When I'm on a bike - it's on my person. Beacon renewals are every couple years. I think I've replaced mine once or twice - they have to be replaced every five years.

PLB is GPS based so emergency help is always available.
A bit different in here in Aus...a PLB must have a 10yr battery & functional life at point of sale and the advantage over purely sattelite based devices is a PLB sends out a radio signal so usual signal loss areas do not effect the device.
I wear both a SPOT for tracking and a PLB for emergency response.
