Two bike saddlesore

#1
Has anyone done this? I live in the Seattle area, and have a friend in Boise. Initially, I ride one of my bikes to Boise, 500+ miles away, and leave the bike at their house. I fly back home. At a later date, I ride my other bike to Boise, switch bikes, and ride back. Over 1000 miles ridden, but two bikes involved.
Has that been done before?

And before the rule change which now requires the ride be done on a single bike, it was not uncommon for a rider to use a dirt or dual=sport bike for the Haul Road portion of the ride and then switch to a tourer for the rest of the ride. And there have been plenty of cases where a bike switch was needed because of a mechanical failure.

So keep in mind what is required for a bike switch. You will need to

document the first bike's odo reading at the end of riding the first bike;

document the second bike's odo mileage at the start of riding the second bike;

make an entry in your ride log; and

continue the ride on the second bike from the point you stopped riding the first bike. Any mileage ridden between those two points will not be counted towards the ride mileage, but the time will.
