Important Note about the Ride Around VA (and likely some other states)

Spoke with Howard Entmann today and the intent of the IBA is that these rides be a minimum of 1000 miles. He said they are working on ammending the rules to reflect this as some states (like VA) can be completed in less than 1000 miles. The rules change will make it clear that 1000 miles is the minimum. In the case of Virginia, this can easily be accomplished by riding deeper into Virginia Beach and/or Bristol for a receipt.

Clarification is always good. Most of the old timers know that the IBA does not certify any rides of less than 1000 miles, so by default, any named ride still needs to be at least a SS1K version.

Scheduled departure Saturday May 1 around 0100 from Virginia Beach and my planned route is listed at 1021 miles. Starting location purposely moved to almost the oceanfront in Va Beach.

The Great Lakes rides are a good template. A couple can be done under 1k, but the rules require you to add enough.
