1k mile gold rides

Well, I did not know you could get a IBA GOLD certificates ride by riding a 1,000 miles, maybe something has changed. I was always told that you need to ride BBG's or certain types of multi day rides to get GOLD like 50CC the hard way. That is why I have ridden over 90 BBG's. If I had known I could get GOLD status for rides of 1,000 miles I could have saved a lot of time and money.

It was introduced two years ago at the Jacksonville party, but it’s only certain days and I believe a few conditions must be met. I agree with you on saving time and money, I was looking for the days because right now my time is limited and I figured maybe I could do one in the next few months. If not, I’ll find a way to do a few more golds to get to the next level. Much respect to you, at my age I don’t think I have 90 more SS or BBs in me. Thank you for your 48-10 route, very precise and detailed.

Just looking at the list I spotted the following:

Death Valley 1000 Gold (sort of time limited)
Mighty Mississippi Gold
Heaven to Hell Gold
Concert 1000 (looks like there is a Gold option available)

Some of the other theme rides (Eggsanity, coffee, donuts) have Gold options it looks like.

On an unrelated note, while looking through the list I couldn't find the Egg Hunt 1000 - I have the Gold for that.

Thank you, I’ll take a closer look.

There are 1K gold rides that have additional requirements other than just riding on a certain date. I suggest clicking on one of the rides listed in the Ride of the Month list. Most of these rides have a Gold level that define what the additional requirements are for the different levels of these rides.

Greetings, all:

Noted earlier that there are some Gold 1000s tied to the Jax gathering. I missed the Buc-ee's by a buc or so last year; weighed whether to add an additional few hundred miles to the ride, or just call it a SS-1000 with a "couple" of Buc-ee's thrown in.
This year, the Liberty theme is alive and well. These particular ride rules are well worth reading multiple times to ensure all the nuances of the rules are understood. To get five Liberty municipalities in without running over the two-per-state rule, I had to hopscotch quite a bit making the trek from Virginia to Jacksonville. Still over 1200 miles, but could find five by opening the aperture. I appreciate the note that the judges would lend some leeway, but a town is a town, and not merely a Liberty gas station.
The list of Liberty cities, towns, etc., was posted as not all-inclusive, so was worth looking for all the combinations of "West Liberty" and "Libertyville" or other such combinations that I may. I found I was having fun in the easter egg hunt! That, and given the nice weather the weather-guessers are forecasting with their long-range crystal balls, and I'm genuinely looking forward to the trip down as much as I am the banquet and gathering.

BLAE (Bottom Line at End): The 1000-mile Gold rides are worth the search - be they by date, or unique events, or some thematic spin. (The Thanksgiving-themed precious metals are recurrent date-block specific, for instance.) And, most won't simply pop out of the title line of the Big List at you. No few are "never to be offered again," which means - I hope - not very likely to be reprised.

Looking forward to seeing those who will attend the Jax gathering; safe riding!

Mark
