2024 auxiliary fuel tank plumbing

I’m very interested in the latest HD has to offer in their touring chassis, specifically the RG. Has anyone looked at plumbing the aux to the main tank? The service manual isn’t online yet so all I’ve been able to look at is the parts manual. From what I can see, there may be a way to put a fitting in the front center of the fuel cap housing as there are two vent/overflow ports already. Not sure that is the best way since there may be risk of losing fuel through the overflow port. I need to see the housing to understand how fuel would flow if there is room for another port.
The fuel pump is now serviced by a plate assembly at the bottom of the tank. There may be a way to install a port in this plate but again, you’ll need the plate/pump assembly in your hand to be sure. If we’re going to have to add a port in the fuel pump assembly because there may be no way to plumb the fuel cap assembly, a transfer pump will be necessary.

I’m thinking I may switch from batwing to shark nose on the new chassis but having auxiliary fuel is a deal breaker for me.

Has anyone looked at installing an aux tank on a ‘24 yet?

The fill neck looks to be the exact same as the one on the Pam America and there’s not a simple way to add a fuel line into that like the previous models. If the fuel pump is also mounted from the bottom of the tank similar to the PanAm then getting a fitting into that should be relatively straightforward. But the only time you’ll need a transfer pump is if your aux tank is below the fitting in the main tank.

Thanks for the heads up on the gravity feed!

Haven’t done it on a ‘24 yet, but from what I’ve seen, adding a port to the fuel pump plate might be the cleanest option if there’s no room in the cap assembly. You’d likely need a transfer pump either way. Curious to hear if anyone has tested the vent/overflow ports for direct feed!

On my 2006 FLHPI, I build a 5g aux tank and installed it on the luggage rack... I routed the line to a T-connection in front of the tank where the other hoses connect... I would wait for the main tank to drain down a bit and then open up the valve on the aux tank... The only problem I had with it was some aerodynamic issues that would cause the handlebars to vibrate if I took both hands off the grips...
