A place to discuss your upcoming rides

Well I hope direction comes soon. Just booked leave for OzSTOC Rally March 21-24 in Toowoomba. If the muster ain't the weekend before or after this then it'll be a no go for me.

I also, have raised this question with management and was assured they're thinking about it.
I did include reference to the OZStoc Rally, mentioning the fact they managed to coincide this year with 52 Saturdays to choose from. I also know that every Saturday there something on somewhere for everyone.

Hey All, a quick one re the upcoming 22/7 (Pie Day) and the rules ( https://www.ironbutt.com/themerides/pie/ ).

One of the rules for Gold is to start and finish by having a pie, and we can also read that we are allowed to one Wildcard which means we can have one pie in some chain venue. My question is:

Can I end my Pie Ride in Maccas West Gosford by having an apple pie and use it as my Wildcard?
btw my route so far: https://maps.app.goo.gl/HKk2M7EkKpfoFGrv5

A Maccas apple pie sure seems to fit the criteria for a wildcard under the rules.

Minor note, but the GOLD is for the date (22nd July in your case). All pie rides start and finish with a pie .

Good luck with the run.

Thanks, Peter - exactly right - am getting ready for 22nd July :) and have got all the approvals from the (real) boss at home :D. I say it is a GO!

Can anyone comment on how the miles are determined for pie and egg rides that start and end with selfie with food? Is spotwalla sufficient? Do you need to take the selfie at the beginning/end and also take a picture of your food receipt with odometer at start and end?

Spotwalla is not sufficient for that, but is required. The same rules as a SS1K apply, your starting DBR for pie needs to be photographed next to your odometer just like your fuel receipts and end pie receipt. I’m not sure if your other pie receipts need to be with your odo, but it won’t hurt!

The main IBA page has a link to the specific ride rules relating to the Pie Ride endeavours. Just be sure to check their ride rules to be sure you are all over the specific requirements. For example, there is a requirement to have "200 miles" between pie locations. (About 322klm in our language). It is easy to forget something when you are juggling receipts, odometer readings, pie purchase/eating and selfies! Perhaps make up a little checklist for each stop to ensure you tick all the boxes. Best wishes for the attempt. I hope the weather Gods are on your side!

I did read through those links for pie and eggsanity.

They both are clear that the rides start and end at the food location with a selfie for time and are unclear about the miles which are usually at gas locations. I was thinking of doing what EricV suggests but it isn't spelled out very clearly. I don't think I can attach two pictures to the same Spotwalla point so it may be that I need to upload the pictures later or wait 5 minutes to attach the second picture.

The starting DBR on any ride does not have to be for fuel. Fill up off the clock near the pie shop. No DBR required. Ride the short distance from the gas station to the pie shop.

Buy the pie, check that the DBR has the required info (location, date and time). If so, start eating. Take a happy selfie - ooooh that pie tastes good! Take a pic of the DBR next to the odometer. Check the pic is clear and shows all required info*.

Ride at least 200 miles to your next pie shop and repeat. Through the day you will need fuel, possibly nowhere near your planned pie stops. Log the stops with DBRs at the gas station in the usual way.

If you are worried about the "2 pics for one SPOT", buy gas near the end and take the usual DBR pic. Even if the pie shop is very close by, there will be time for another 'spot' by time you are half way through that very goood final pie with smiling selfie.

* I write the odometer and GPS mileage on all of my DBRs before each pic. Also the log entry. 1, 2, 3 etc. Takes a couple of seconds, but makes everything in the pic clear for the verification team.
