Any experience compressing gpx files for GoogleMaps?

Finished a SS1000 yesterday and used Gaia and SW Tracker/Spotwalla to record tracks.

The .gpx file from Gaia is too large (over 5mb) for GoogleMaps.

Does anyone have experience on how to compress the file or trim the tracks down?

See if you can convert it to a KML file and Google should take it then.
