Any IBA riders in the Washington State Area?

Hello,

I was curious if any IBA members live in the pacific northwest and ride Tues-Thurs Like I do. I try to organize on the local meetup.com boards and facebook groups in the pacific northwest. Most folks dismiss my rides as too "Hardcore" or "Too Long". A 300-500 mile warm-up ride is too long for most folks in my neck of the woods! This riding season is optimal for me personally as I prefer 75-95 degree weather when doing IBA Certs. I have some Mile Eater Goals that I plan on completing, but I would prefer a little company if at all possible. Please contact me if your interested. Last year I did over 9200 miles in about a 4 month period mainly riding IBA certs.
The riding season in the Washington State area isn't over with, and we have at least till about mid October before I throw in the towel this year. If you have a couple IBA rides in mind let me know. I have a couple certs left to do before this riding season is over.

Thanks,
-Kareem

There are plenty of IBA riders in the PacNorWet. And the riding season doesn't ever end, you just get stuck in the Willamette Valley if you're P-town centric, or Sometimes the Tac-Oly and on South with limited options for getting over to the Coast or to the East in Winter. (I lived in Portland for 45 years)

You should try WetLeather listserv or OBS, both hosted on Micapeak's server. Many will not want to do your longer rides, but some may be interested. WetLeather is more Seattle oriented, Oregon Biker Scum(OBS), is more Portland oriented. Wetleather is sort of like trying to sip from a fire hose, traffic wise, OBS is much quieter. Both offer real time and digest modes.

I'm in Seattle. Early to mid Oct gets pretty cold over the mtns, mid to upper 20s @ 0300 in Cle Elum is not uncommon. Since 2020 I've not done many rides and not a single one this sumer due to elder care responsibilities. Always up to meeting for coffee and talking motorcycles.

I organize long distance rides on the following meetup group: https://www.meetup.com/bikers/

Not too many people join me on IBA rides, but I still mange to ride solo or otherwise. I would like to do at least 3 SS1k's before finishing out the riding season this year.

I'm just south of Seattle. I only get a few Real rides in a year. Mostly weekends because of work. But would be up for planning something next year. Maybe a north cascade loop or something. It can be tough to find comparable riders. Feel free to contact me.

I am new here but I am in vancouver wa and I am always open for a long distance ride and currently do most of my ride solo because no one I ride with can ride during the week and dont like to put in the miles I do.

I'm in Albany, Oregon (~1 hour south of PDX). I tend to avoid group rides, but I do think we need to plan a local RTE or something.

Another idea: I used to plan a "Last Ride of the Year" on Dec 31 on the FJ-09 forum. Attendance ranged from 1-4 people. Maybe this group is a little more likely to get out and ride in December? It should probably be somewhere on the wet side or coast to avoid ice.

Living in Anacortes now, more than willing to attend a Meet and Greet to Eat! And a ride, too.

Since we are on the topic of the PNW. I live about an hour south of Portland near Estacada, Or.

I am new here. But my dad was a member, long ago. I am a rookie at long distance rides. I've done a bunch of 400-500 mile days in the last couple years, but I'm looking to expand and venture further out of my comfort zone, with the goals of doing a 1k day, visiting my dad's stone in Gerlach, and someday seeing Florida.

I would also like to find some fellow minded folks to ride with. I go on a lot of the local group rides but as mentioned by someone else, they tend to be scared of anything more then 100mi round trip.

I currently ride a Versys 650

I am in Vancouver wa. And always open to ride with an another long distance rider. In fact I just tried and failed the Washington x for the 2 time. That is a bugger of a ride. I have done bb1k. Ss1500 I did in under the time for silver but it was my first two rides so i dont think I will get the silver.

Welcome!

Not long ago, on a trip home from the PNW (I have family [non-riding] in the Northshore region) I had stopped by there: https://forum.ironbutt.org/index.ph...-of-honor-iba-memorial.3583/page-2#post-82631

My start in the IBA actually came by way of a very old-school social media platform Delphi and the Motorcycle Tourer's Forum there. They would do introductory rides already laid out, fuel stop locations pre-arranged, etc. They wanted you to succeed on your first ride by having things easy and simple. There were supposed to be five of us on my first ride; turned out there were only two. I got there early enough, that I just took off and did the ride alone.

There's plenty of support and assistance already here on this forum that are 'close' by that would be willing to help. Best of luck to you!

Welcome! You're in a prime location to do some long distance rides through great scenery.

Look up the Pacific Northwest Grand Tour. Every year they release a list of 30 locations in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, western Montana, and northern California. It's a great way to start since it's self paced over several months.

I can second keithU recommendation for the PNWGT. Great way to see the northwest at your pace.

I'm in the Auburn, WA area.

The Rose City MC also does an annual Grand Tour. 15 locations in state and 4 out of state. Decent way to stretch your miles with individual locations or combos. Their events can be ok too, though the first one of the year is usually a shit show of wobbly riders. The 250 and 500 rides were fun and you could do it at any pace you chose.

I did a SS 1k last year from Aberdeen to Bakersfield CA. I -5 all the way. (Absolutely NO scenery from Redding CA onwards.) I will be trying a BBG, a SS 2k and a California 1k all “nested” into one trip this year around the first of June on a sport bike .

If you’re interested you are more than welcome to come along.
