IBA BIG-AS-TEXAS PARTY & Ride-a-Palooza II
Allen, Texas 2022

For the last several years, a group would gather to do a special certificate ride and then enjoy a dinner together. But, just like the IBA Daytona Bike Week original Pizza Party, we just had too much fun and had to expand the event, so expand it, we did. Announcing the Big As Texas Week! One week of awesome rides followed by a weekend of kicking tires and telling lies. Just like the Daytona Bike Week Party, you do not have to sign up for a ride to attend the party. We encourage every LD rider to come join the fun, whether or not you can fit one of the rides into your calendar. You know you want to be there!! Below you will find information on each ride. Specifics will be emailed to riders after registration. To sign up for any of the following rides and events log into your account at https://ibaestore.com/ Please contact Lisa [email protected] if you have trouble logging in. Finishers of the Senior Butt Rally and Junior Butt Rally will be recognized and some special awards will be presented by Mr. Kneebone. We’ll also be welcoming the 2023 IBR Rookie class and many of the returning IBR Vets. As is the custom, we'll feature a keynote speaker of interest to all IBA members to round out the entertainment for the evening. Registration Details:
The 2021 event was a sellout, and this year, the Saturday night BIG-AS-TEXAS PARTY space is limited and will likely sell out. We pay for the use of the facilities, so even if you do not want to eat, everyone must pay to enter. Everyone who wishes to attend must register BEFORE September 1, 2022. We expect a large turnout, so to avoid disappointment, we suggest you register as soon as possible. Only Iron Butt Association (IBA) members, their guests or those registering for the SaddleSore 1000 or a certified ride-ins may attend the party. Space is limited and once we are out of room, well, we are out of room.... To reserve your entry to the party you will have to log in to the IBA's estore, purchase a ticket and pay via PayPal (which also allows payment with Visa/Mastercard/AMEX and a few other options), $69.22 US per person. Please do NOT send cash or checks to the IBA as your registration will not be able to be confirmed. The registration web page can be found when you log in at ibaestore.com

On the left click on the BIG AS TEXAS link for the registration page(s).

IMPORTANT!
If you have problems or questions when registering please contact [email protected]. Your confirmation letter, along with exact directions, the hotel room reservation link and contact information, will be emailed to you after you register. These are not computer generated and it may take a few days to receive this email; we appreciate your patience. No worries though - as long as you follow the registration link in a reasonable time after you get the letter, there will be a hotel room available for you if you've registered and paid for the event. Your dinner ticket(s) will be available for pick up at the door - nothing will be snail mailed to you.

REFUND DEADLINE:
Because the IBA party and rides require a certain level of administrative and hotel support, the refund deadline is August 1, 2022 - our deadline for turning in space and meal commitments to the hotel as well as ordering ride supplies. After that there will not be any refunds or transfers. However, if weather is not cooperative on the day of the ride, or you can not otherwise make the start line, you may complete these rides up to two years later (including later BIG-AS- TEXAS PARTY events) and apply via snail mail.

Please note, Visa/MC/AMEX/Paypal (and others) are no longer refunding their fees on refunds, so there are cancellation fees to cover those unfortunate new costs - they are detailed on the store page with each item.

Big As Texas Party – How to make the most of it!

You’ve signed up for the BAT Party and maybe a ride or rally as well. But how do you make the most of the Big As Texas event? That’s easy. Here are the insider tips for all riders whether new or seasoned vet:
  • Attend all the “no-host” dinners and “beer keg” happy hours held during your time there:
These events are the best way to get to know fellow crazies in the long-distance riding community. Vets love these events because they know all their friends will be there. And they truly do like meeting the new riders. So if you are new to the LD riding community feel free to join in the conversations going on around you. This is hands down the best way to learn about rides, rallies, bike enhancements, Ride to Eat events, and a host of other helpful topics.
  • Bring a spouse, significant other, neighbor or riding friend:
There is always more fun to be had when you share it with someone else. Maybe you know someone who wants to do that first SaddleSore 1000 and become a member of the IBA. Or maybe that is you! The special opportunities to do a Ride In certification ride or the Bonnie and Clyde 1000 being held during the event are once a year opportunities. If you are a friend are looking to join the Iron Butt Association this is the best opportunity. And it won’t come around again for another year!
  • Follow the events taking place during the week:
There will be group SpotWalla pages for the major rides taking place during the week. These events include the Senior Butt and Junior Butt Rallies, the Ride Around Texas Insanity (and Rewind) and the traditional BAT SaddleSore 1000 and Bun Burner Gold rides. Riders voluntarily sign up for these group trackers which give the rest of the LD riding community a chance to follow along with the riders. Talk about something that will make you want to sign up for the next go around, these trackers are the bomb! They’re free too. Links will be posted for all to follow along.

Pass this info along to your friends. The BAT Party in 2021 was our largest ever and the banquet hall was sold out. This is no small undertaking and it’s an event you don’t want to miss. At this point there are limited seats available for the banquet. We are surely headed to another sell out in 2022 and we want you to be there! Sign up is on the IBA estore at https://ibaestore.com/

See you in Allen!

As you can probably tell by the different posts everywhere, this event is getting some serious traction. We're even getting some real old dudes timers showing up in September. Perennial IBR podium finisher and IBR Route Master Extraordinaire, Jeff Earls, will be amongst the crowd. If you haven't met him, you know you want to. Of course our only 2 time IBR winner, Jim Owen, can't possibly miss the fun and will once again be riding the SBR. Three time IBR finisher Dean Tanji (of Hard Miles 1 and 2 fame and my fave riding partner ever) and Gnarly Boy Ray Blair are both making the trip out from So Cal to join the fun. I expect they won't be the last of that group to register. Guys and gals who threw down some serious miles a few decades ago, participating in some of the most epic LD rallies and rides and paved the way for what you're doing now. You know, back when paper maps were a thing. If you aren't up to speed on IBA/IBR history you're cheating yourself out of a bunch of awesome.

We have already added more rooms to the block twice and looks like we need to do that again tomorrow. At some point, that will come to an end so if you're on the fence, at least get your dinner ticket to the party so you can get the info to make your room reservation. You can decide which ride you want to do later, or just plan to hang out and be cool. Since the International Meets are now in the rear view mirror, the Texas Week is something to make you clear your calendar. Make it so.

What’s the location for the no-host dinner tomorrow night?
Hi there - You don't show your actual name so not sure if you are registered for the event, in which case Cliff sent an email with that info. I can resend it to you if you don't have it. Otherwise, sorry, but the No Host Dinners are only for registered attendees because we are space limited by the locations. Let me know if you need the email resent!

Martin,

The dates for the BAT 2023 run from September 15 to 23 this year with the final banquet falling on Saturday night 9/23. The sign up has not been opened up yet so you haven't missed anything. Look for something in the post IBR time frame.

Thanks for asking!
