Certification question: BB1500 with nested Lake Huron 1000?

Hello,

I am looking for clarity from the admins or senior members on how to structure my application for an upcoming ride.

My goal is a BB1500 (or BB2500k) with the following itinerary:

Day 1: A 1,000-mile (~1,600 km) loop around Lake Huron, starting and ending in my hometown (18 to 20 hours).
Day 2: After a few hours of sleep, an additional 500 - 600 miles (900 to 1,000 km).

What would be the correct way to submit this for certification?

A) A single BB1500 (or BB2500k) application with a nested Lake Huron 1000?
B) Two separate applications: one for the BB1500 (or BB2500k) and one for the Lake Huron 1000?
C) A single BB1500 (or BB2500k) application that avoids mixing the special series ride entirely?

Thank you for your attention and guidance.

Seek out the advice of the certification team however I believe the most appropriate method is:
1. Submit the BB1500/BB2500K and pay full fee, and,
2. Submit the smaller SS1000/SS1600K Lake Huron 1000 as a nested ride and pay the reduce fee for the smaller, nested ride - at the same time.

The only thing to remember (if I recall the rules/advice correctly) is that you will need an end DBR ODO photo for the loop ride, and an additional 'restart' DBR ODO photo (I'd personally recommend the same location) so that you can deduct the miles/kms in between the two AND provide the justification for the 'off time' which is still running on your BB1500/BB2500K ride clock (as this 'off time' will be more than 30 minutes).

I agree with cjmckay. A single submission with the BB2500K ride and the Lake Huron 1K nested for the reduced fee. I would only suggest you avoid using the SS1000/SS1600K term and stick with the "Lake Huron 1000”since that is a named ride. Remember that depending on how you submit, you wait to receive notice that the rides have been approved before paying the fees.

Excellent advice on the Start/Stop documentation. Your goal is to make it as easy as possible for the Certification Team to verify your ride.

Remember to give yourself a 3% to 5% buffer on your mapped miles/kms. And that a SS1600K ride actually requires a minimum of 1610 kms!

Have a great ride, it’s a beautiful one.

Thank you to everyone for the advice and feedback!

I recently completed the ride and submitted it as a BB2500k with a nested Lake Huron 1000, as recommended. The ride was successfully certified as submitted.

For anyone curious about timing, the approval process took 11 days (submitted as a Premier member with a SpotWalla link). I received a courteous interim update letting me know about a slight backlog from recent Big As Texas applications.

I hope this helps clear things up for anyone planning a similar ride down the line.
