Comments - Australian Specific Rides

Bundy-Texas-Kentucky, Texas, Bundy - 1677km. Looks like it was made for you to ride.

Metro Petroleum Texas typically opens 5:30am (6am on weekends). I've just confirmed their trading hours over the break - slightly shortened Christmas and Boxing Day. 7:30pm close (except Sundays @ 7pm).

I'm thinking starting in Goondiwindi, then Texas, then Kentucky, then down to West Wyalong, then Mildura, then finishing up in Renmark. Thats 4 Aussie states plus the US ones (from Google it's about 1727kms). I am attracted to doing something with as many US states as possible but I think OX-34 has already done something along those lines.

Nope. Not falling into that argument again...

Yes well there does exist a few ride reports that have included additional US states and they did not raise any flack.
In fact the contrary for finding those places.
Texas QLD was named after a water feud between two properties 1 on Qld 1 on NSW side of the Dumaresq River as both boundary's lines ran into the opposing states.
"it was like the wild west, Texas and cattle and a feud over water"

If you take the time you will find ride reports in the positive inclusive of Wyoming and a search for New Mexico also in the positive and links to inter state connections bashing out the miles.

For almost all of us in the days when this ride came to light it was seen as a challenge to find new US states and go do the miles.
It was a challenge and it offered to be such. Research, rout planning and the excitement that goes with any motorcycle adventure encapsulated in a quest suitable for any IBA/LDR.

New history has diminished its value and I'm just one of many whom are sad to see this happen.

Glad to be of help.
The rules for that particular ride appeared in the Australia Specific ride rules list in 2016 (Or there abouts) I believe.
Pity the Kentucky Store has closed. The village reflects that now. The week day traffic to get mail and that Saturday morning buzz has gone.

The owners had 7000Sqr Meters of lots behind the store as part of the sale but that fact was never very obvious in the marketing of that business.

If one was to hange back a few years those blokes will come up as council rates restitution sales for any who wants to buy in cheap.
Its not the village for everyone but as we know it takes everyone to make a village. I got my 3000m2 for under 40K in the last round.

Photos and a text will probabley be sufficient proof of attendance at that site at that time. easy as.

So I'm planning a 4x4 trip in July and I think it would make a great Australian Specific ride for someone to do.
Would be quite a bit of dirt and sand but
But I'm sure someone will give it a crack
The Australain Figure 8 - including the 5 points of Australia (North, South, East, West & Centre)
just thinking out loud

Hopey

You best hope that you don't need a very long snorkel in FNQ on your little drive Hopey. Just saying, that's all. Cheers.

Cameron,
If the rule requires you to use a a suburb, town, city it will need to have a postcode. One way to look at it; Can you post a letter to a physical address at this location? In the New Mexico example above, the answer is no.

On this ride you require a DBR or if you are unable to obtain one, a photograph of your bike in front of sign showing you were there, e.g., Post Office, Town sign etc. Should you not be able to obtain one then you should consider what other way you can show the validation team that you were at the location you said you were at.
