How does news like this not hit here directly and early in the process?

Is major social media platforms the priority?
 
At this point I wouldn’t be surprised if the IBA FB page has more members than the IBA Forum.

I’m so old I remember before social media and started rally riding with paper maps, highlighters and a polaroid camera. When RMs gave directions to a bonus. Like go North on W2400 for 3 miles, then turn Left for 1 mile, then go East until you pass the big rock. The bonus will be on the right side of the road obscured by bushes. (watch for snakes at night)
 
I consider FB now and then, mostly because I’d like to use the marketplace feature. But my first experience some years back was so invasive that I haven’t been able to go down that road again. You know nothing on your computer is private when you’re getting friend requests before you’ve even finished filling out the profile. That computer got disassembled and the hard drive degaussed, before physically removing it and drilling holes, then cutting up and burning.
 
I used to be on FB but I got tired of all the political posts, all the bitching and moaning about everything. The only thing I miss are the photos of friends riding adventures. I agree about the invasion of privacy as well with that stuff as well.

Sounds like a generic MERA bonus. :D
 
Well, it doesn't seem to have been broadly publicized that this change has happened. Apparently, nothing official noted on FB (at least according to ChatGPT).

I suspect the membership will be reading the official details soon enough.
 
I was told it was openly presented in Jax earlier this year by Mike K. But a lot of us don’t go to the Jax Party and very little seems to be presented here any more. Even the IBR updates were on the LDX site and only a couple of links here mentioning it.
 
So for those of you who are still a little hazy on this, in a nutshell, Mike decided he needs to devote more time to the Iron Butt Association's non-US operations. In order to do this, he asked Scott to take over the brunt of the IBA-US work.

I just received a BBG cert - my first cert in 15 years or so? Signed by Scott Durham, President, Iron Butt Association. That threw me for a loop. So, a little Googling and I ended up here. Interesting........
 
I just got my first certs of the year and noticed the signature didn't look right. Also came here after some google direction and YEAH, seems like that could have been something in the regular Premier Newsletter at least. I too have FB, but other than marketplace, don't really use it.

Well, I guess it doesn't matter who signs the paperwork, still a great organization aligned with my whacky way of enjoying freetime.

But OHHH, does this mean that I get to go re-ride every ride I've done so far to get a 'unique' certificate? (Cause THIS one has a different signature!) :D

I don't think it's that formal. If you have an issue, they'll figure out who takes the lead. They still talk to each other. :)
