Well, that was a great ride.
To put my personal experience into context - a little side story. My last decent ride was mid 2019. With work commitments, then Covid I did not get the bike out again for any riding until September 2020 (and that was a ride of 50klms to work). No more riding until December 2021, when I did a service of the bike, and then a very short test ride. Then parked up again :(

I am committed to do my Equinox ride, because available time is now in my favour (just), I need to finally do an IBA ride that actually gets recorded/submitted (despite doing a few eligible rides previously - but did nothing about it).

So, I set off in the pouring rain on Saturday morning, with a plan to run east to Tammin, then to wend my way north, north-west thru the canola blooms to turn right onto the Great Northern Hwy. It was a great run, minimal traffic, and roads which were in great condition, despite the amount of water still lapping the edges of the road from recent rains.
Waited at Wubin as I had pre-arranged with Russell to meet him there. But for the first time that morning, I was beginning to watch the clock, and I couldn't wait any longer. With many wide/long loads under escort heading north, deep/long potholes, I needed to drop my moving average back.
Good decision....got into Paynes Find within the window.
Had a good break, lunching with the guys and swapping Defence Force banter with Rusjel and BrissyGTR.

The run home was a simple "follow the leader" with Rus and Chris . Thanks guys, really enjoyed the company.

1050klms completed. Arms sore. My broken thumb giving me hell (that's a story for another time). Lessons learned, but I think I'm ready for my Equinox ride next month. Bike is now washed, comms issues repaired/resolved yesterday, so all in all, a great weekend with lots of boxes ticked.

Cheers guys.

Sounds like fun Dicky Knee, or is it Dicky Thumb.
The knees withstood the riding position well. The titanium upgrades worked well.
The thumb is never to be repaired. The Dr warned me that if it was reset and put into a cast, the calcified joints would lock forever, making the thumb useless. So, I am prepared to put up with some intermittent agony and keep flexibility rather than the alternative (which an amputation would almost provide the same result).

FWIW... we have stumbled across a pain relief cream. Kunzea. It is brilliant. Works on arthritic joints, cramps and general muscle soreness. Immediate relief, long lasting (This is not a paid advertisement). I got a lecture from the Leader of the Opposition (when I got home) for cmplaining about the pain, and not having taken the Kunzea with me. Next time.

It was a great day out, even with the rain, and the pot holes at Wubin are the best I've ever seen. Perfect circles and white paint marking the edges of most of them.

Steve, I should join you on your equinox ride and actually become an official IBA rider myself. I'll need to explore my availability for next month.

I'll bring lights.

Good evening,

We have been able to support the LDRiding Community and more specifically, the new owners of FarRiders, through this thread and a number of other threads covering RTE's. With the advent of Far Road and the Facebook Group Get Together Riders - It's just down the road , we believe the time has come to close off these threads so as to allow these groups to evolve naturally in their support of riders wishing to engage in their ride offerings.

We thank you for your ongoing support whilst these changes have been occurring within the LDRiding Community and look forward to catching up with you on the road.

Please note that the threads will close over the next few days and this message will be posted in each of the threads involved.
