Hello everyone and I'm glad to finally have taken the step to join your long distance rider group. I have ridden many long days, but that first SaddleSore 1600km ride was a proof that age does not matter. I am 60, a bit overweight, not sporty at all, but love riding my 2012 Wing. One thing I've learnt on my ride is no heavy meal when far from home. At the mid way of my ride, I stopped at a McDonald, had a big Mac meal and left to finish my ride. That meal costed me over two hours of trying to find a place to relieve my stomach discomfort. That ride took me around 17 hours and anxious to make my 2000km ride and then, my 2500km before the snow starts.

I am still waiting for my certification for the SS1600 and planning my 2000km for this friday. Sure is a heck of a ride, I have just finished the road on Basecamp and it will take me around 21 hours with the 6 gas stops.

Done !!! One 1600km and two 2000km. All this in Aug and Sept . Not easy to be accepted and the IBA team is really working hard to help us achieve things we would have never thought we'd do. On my 1600km (Aug 10), I had 6 gas stops, one food and one to dress up, took 18.5 hours for 1639km (1018m). On my first 2000km (Sept 2), I had 10 gas stops, one meal (McDonalds that caused me many stops to let it out and didn't work and lost my camera at my 8th gas stop), I left at 5h50 AM Sept 2 and got home at 3h30AM Sept 3 with 2055km (1277m). Finally, my last 2000km started Sept 15 at 9h45pm and ended at 19h58 Sept 16 with 2069km (1285m). Like I said, my 1600 took me 18.5 hours, my first 2000km took 21.5 hours and my second 2000km took me 20 hours. When going East or West, remember the sun rise and sun set, it's a long road with the sun in the eyes.
