Things are getting serious...

The Iron Butt Association is very pleased to announce that Dean Tanji will be the keynote speaker at the 2022 Big As Texas Party closing banquet on Saturday night, September 24th.. Dean is a some-what renown long-distance rider and the producer of the Hard Miles 1 & 2 videos chronicling the Iron Butt Rally of 2007 and 2009 which he created through his video production company, Abracadabra Presentation Graphics, Inc. While you may have known those facts and that may be enough to get you in the door, you may not know the rest of Dean’s story.

Dean is a three time Iron Butt Rally finisher, taking home bronze, silver and gold finishes in 2001, 2003, and 2005. That, along with his extraordinary video production skills and riding experience made him uniquely qualified to capture the essence of the IBR in his now famous videos. Virtually every IBR competitor has pored over these videos looking for the secret to finishing and scoring well in the World’s Toughest Motorcycle Rally.

On the lighter side of long-distance riding, in 2000 Dean noticed there were no Ride To Eats on the West Coast. So he started the annual spectacle known as the “Bite the Wieeenie” Ride To Eat event at Pink’s Hot Dogs in Los Angeles each fall. Adding to that he promoted the “Because We Can” ride held in California between Christmas and New Years.

On the beefier side he has multiple IBA certs to his credit and has finished the

48++

Prudhoe Bay to Ushuaia, 2010/2011, 22,000 miles (look that one up!)

Silk Road 2015, Belgium to Zi’an, China, 12,000 miles

Africa 2017, South Africa up to Egypt, 9,000 miles

South East Asia 2018, 4,000 miles, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia

But most notably, Dean has been friends with IBR Rally Mistress Lisa Landry for over 20 years. They have traveled together by motorcycle to over 20 countries. Rumor has it Dean’s speech will be titled, “How I Maintained a 20 Year Friendship with Lisa Landry – and Other Crazy Stuff I've Done.”

Don’t miss this special opportunity to hear the amazing exploits of one of the great motorcycle enthusiasts of our generation. Tickets are limited and are available only through the IBA estore => https://ibaestore.com/
