looking for 3 - 3.5 gal Aux tank

I am looking for an aux tank for my ST1300 , with the 7.7 gal original to the bike , im looking for 3 - 3.5 gal tank.
 
Have you considered a generic ebay/amazon fuel cell mounted to the rear rack?

This 3.25 Gal horizontal spun aluminum tank is a low cost option. It would need a non-vented cap and you’d need to have a bung welded on for a tip over valve/overflow vent, but that wouldn’t cost much. At $108 with free shipping and with mounting brackets, it would be pretty easy to mount to a piece of aluminum plate that you can drill mounting holes to mount to the top case rack on the bike.
 
Thanks Eric , i am looking at those and probably the route Ill go. I was just curious to see what someone might have.
 
You can always ask! Good luck, the ST is an older platform at this point and not a lot of LD guys still running them. I’m not sure anyone ever made a ST1300 specific aux tank set up.
 
thanks for the advice Eric . I know the ST13 is older but the newer bikes , I just havent found one I like and as long as I can find low mileage bikes like these Ill stick with them. Ill just have to be a little more innovative .. LOL .. I dont believe I met you before , so hopefully Ill meet you someday soon.
 
Just as an aside, if you’re not aimed at the IBR or other rallies, there is no limit on fuel volume on board for cert rides. I noted that the size you want to stay under the 11.5 Gal rule is not nearly as common as smaller and larger aux tanks.

I was an FJR rider for much of my rally riding, then moved to the Super Tenere. As you said, still plenty of low mile Sport Touring bikes around at reasonable prices.
 
I am aiming IBR , Im not getting any younger so hoping for a birth in 27 . Im signed up for the LDX as well , a top 10 finish there would help allot .. If youre going to be in Jax this year Ill buy you a beer.
 
If your looking to be able to participate in the IBR some day, It's capacity will have to be certified either by the manufacture or by sending it to Lincoln Seals in Montana. I don't know of any of the cheaper spun aluminum ones to have the exact capacity stamp by the manufacturer. Other rallies are also adopting that same requirement. If your just going to be doing cert rides, there isn't any rules for fuel capacity, just the requirement for a stop before 350 miles.
