Congratulations to Martin on coming 19th in the 2025 Iron Butt Rally to secure a Silver Finish!
Looking forward to reading his stories- there were only feint hints on the daily reports.
Only 52 of the 99 starters actually finished.

Thanks everyone! Our thoughts are with Jeff also, who gave it all on Day 1 only to be stopped by tire problems

We have arrived back at our USA base in Minnesota, and started the post rally clean up ready to put the bike back into storage, ahead of flying out on the 5th July.

There is a lot to unpack/share about this IBR, so a full report will follow shortly, but here are some photos from the various legs which provide some insights.

Heading out for the start of leg 2

Leg 3, after a cross country ride from the east coast, I watched the sun set across the New Mexico mountains. Heading for Taos NM to take my last rest bonus of the rally.

The next morning leaving New Mexico entering Colorado ahead of collecting bonuses in Denver.

Congratulations Martin. I was wondering how you were faring with all that extra weight of your supporters here in Oz who were riding vicariously with you as we tried to live your experience thru the brief mentions on the Daily Reports from IBR central.
I thought your first leg result may have been difficult to advance further up the rankings (once the big dogs who were doing the 11 day loop had the scores included). But you stuck to the task, and (must have) rode the plan, to be able to finish where you did.
Kudos mate. Your ride report is eagerly anticipated.
Enjoy the rest of your stay, and looking forward to (hopefully) greeting you again should you do a 50/100ccc sometime.

Congrats, Martin. It was great to meet you and Pillion Piglet at the banquet. Wendy especially enjoyed the input from Piglet on what it takes to get from 700 mile rides to a Saddlesore 1000, and specific info about being a pillion on an RT which we have our eyes on. Maybe someday we will make it to Australia for ride.

Hi Mark,

Great to meet you and Wendy at the finishing banquet. If we can assist with any info on two up on the RT for a Saddle Sore, let us know. There are some subtle tweaks you can do that can help ease the journey.

Congratulations Martin on your silver IBR finishing.
Great determination and rally readiness certainly paid off.
It was great watching your spot progress as I watched from the sidelines.
Once again congratulations, already looking forward to sharing the 27 rally with you.

Thanks Jeff,

Really sorry to see your tire troubles take you of play so early in the rally. Here's to 2027!
