Mighty Mississippi...the hard way

I'm looking for anyone who has completed (or planned) the "Mighty Mississippi" ride. For those unfamiliar, you can read what the IBA has to say about it here...

I'm specifically looking for tracks or routes from those that have tried to stay as close to the river as possible.
I'm working on a route now, but I'd imagine that someone has already done the legwork.

Thanks,

There is a recognized, and signed Great River Road. It is IIRC a National Scenic Highway. I suspect it is NOT a route to make the quickest run. But it should give you a place to begin and decide where you can sacrifice some time for scenery. Good luck.

I did the first ride. We left out of Lake Itasca State Park (hostel), down US 71 to I-94. Then down to I-39 in WI, and south on that road to I-55. That goes all the way to NOLA. Pick up LA 23, which take you all the way to Venice. There is a gas station right at the levee, which is the recognized end.
There is a motel just north of Venice, called Lighthouse Lodge,
42256 Highway 23
Venice, LA 70091
Tel: (985) 534-2522
.
When I was there is was clean and motorcycle friendly.
There are restaurants and a motel on the other side of the levee.
