Winter Solstice SROTY 2024-12-21

Also there are a few stations as you pick up the A483, smaller independents though, so not always open early.
I was looking at picking you up at the boarder maybe.

My plan A is to fill the tank and grab a £3.50 meal deal (stowed in the top box for lunch) at the Lowestoft Tesco and meet you stay overs at Gas Works Road for the 08:01 photo call. Then just follow whatever route TomTom takes me on for the 16:12 photo call at White Sands Beach car park, re-fuelling as and when necessary.

Top tip arrive with a full tanks and empty bladders, refuel (Gimpymoo) every 180 miles or less.

Hats for myself and pillion are sorted :D

Sorry Bob, but I'm not going to make this years shortest ride. The spirit is willing but the body is not , or to be more precise the wife says its too near to Xmas and I have adult responsibilities. o_O Who knew !.

Sounds like a perfect plan.

Lesson well and truly learnt from the RBLR ride regarding fuel :D:eek:

On the RBLR I was very cautious regarding eating and drinking as in not to eat too much in one go.

A pot of fruit, half a sandwich here and there. Worked for me. Avoided the Big Macs and Apple pies :D

Cannot imagine having that rock fermenting for a hundred miles or so.

The rules for the 2024 ride

The ride will be on the Winter Solstice (Saturday 21st December 2024)
Meet at the start (Ness Point, Lowestoft) for a group photo at Sunrise (08:01)
Ride any which way you prefer to the finish point (Whitesands Beach car park, St Davids) for a group photo at sunset (16:12)

Note this is not a group ride. You can ride solo or with a pillion, on your own, with a friend or follow an experienced IBA rider.

It is with great sadness that I must announce my withdrawal from this year's, no doubt absolutely stunning, ride :(

My better half managed to damage herself, again, playing with horses last week and I am consequently responsible for inter alia looking after the horses. I had thought that it would still be practicable for me to do the ride until today when the knee doctor taught me otherwise. I'm going to be doing horses for a while yet :(

The weather looks lovely for the weekend and I'm confident that you'll all have enormous fun. Next year's ride will take place on the continent!

i do hope not, you can get locked up for that, unless you work for the BBC (where you'd just get a suspended and a slapped wrist)

and yes it will be on the continent :p - no matter how much Rachel from customer services fucks the economy - somewhere warm and sunny

hopefully, Dilbert will be on the back benches as well, or crawled back to the Couldn’t Prosecute Shit service

It's Encouraging to see this forum is still able to attract starry eyed young people who imagine that one set of politicians is better or worse than another lot.;)

As long as we don't imagine that grifters like farage are "politicians" just because his empty promises and outright lies are always simple enough for very stupid people

For the avoidance of doubt, I don't say that everyone who likes farage is a very stupid person, I just mean that he understands that, in a democracy, where every Einstein is outvoted by two certified morons, he understands the need to appeal to certified morons.

Not voted since my early twenties.

Quickly realised it is all a scam so I decline to participate, not even registered to vote.

All irrelevant though, only exists to give the impression of "democracy".

Take Nottingham for example, been Labour FOREVER. Bankrupt, incompetent, still get voted in.

You could always organise one :)

I am in fact, now I got envy, thinking about doing something. :D Checked going from south east end in Murcia to south west end in Sagres covers a nice distance timing to see sunrise in mediterranean and sunset in atlantic.

BUT I am affraid I am too alone here. No other spanish activity at all in the forum...

I mean I think I would be both the organizer and the only attendant.
