For the rides that hit the 10 canadian provinces, can the ferry be used from channel-port aux Basques Newfoundland or do we need to stay on roads and go up to Labrador City? Or is there a more obvious way to hit this province that I'm missing?

I'm not sure what your question is. I've driven to Lab City via the Trans Lab a couple of times but no way to get to NFLD without a ferry to one end or the other.

In general, ferries are allowed on rides. But the mileage (kilometerage?) on the ferry doesn't count toward any ride minimum distance. The clock, on the other hand, keeps running.
