I'm having trouble with this preplanning.
I usually jump on the bike, go, turn left or right occasionally, eat when hungry, sleep when tired.
So if my dockets and witnesses along the way don't match the original preplanned route what happens
Hi Ian welcome aboard the new IBA forum.
You've done a handful of FarRides and the FarRally a few years back, but I don't see your name on the current IBA finishers list. If you have completed an IBA ride and had it certified maybe that was very recent?
If you are yet to get your 'IBA number' by completing a ride and having it certified, you'd better get on your bike and get one done . The Inaugural Muster is a members-only event.
"Plan the ride and ride the plan" is a common mantra. Ian the ride is in July. That gives a lot of time to think about where you want to go and then figure out the best way to do it. If you're still up on the Sunshine coast you'll need to find another 550km or so in addition to the google maps shortest run to Parkes. That means corners and planned corners at that. Corners need dockets. If there is no docket opportunity at a corner that may mean that the shop burned down or maybe you never checked if there was a shop?!?!?
As for witnesses you will have no excuse if you don't get your start one of course. If you hit Parkes on time there will be ample opportunity to get a finish witness.
Now if there is flooding or snow or you break down and can't stick to the plan you submitted, but still limp in to Parkes on time with 1610km+ documented then there will be options. Perhaps a standard SS1600 certificate in the mail, perhaps one certified as being to the Muster in the mail, but probably not a Muster one signed and collected on the day, as you won't have completed the ride under the special conditions of the Muster.
TJ, Skidoo or Hagar should chime in here to clarify. They are running the show.
Now leave my negatives aside. Just check your maps and even post up any thoughts you may have on a route for the Muster (or the required first ride) and we will be happy to bounce ideas around.
