Chinchilla QLD Muster 2025 8th March 2025

Hi Fellow travelers,
Change to my plans. Family stuff comes first. I am coming but I won’t be there until Saturday about lunch, am staying the night and head off again early Sunday. What time are you planning any more official part?
Looking forward to tall stories and share experiences.

If you can avoid Cunnamulla to St George after dark I would do so, if not ,keep your eyes open and your lights on full. I look forward to hearing about your trip on your scoot.
Thanks, Vlad. I'll probably leave around 12:30-1:00 AM and hope to cover a big chunk of Cunnamulla to St George before sunset. That said, I'll definitely have my thumb on the light bar switch, ready to light up anything in front of me. :p

Hi Hop,

I reckon we have maybe an hours worth of items to cover off, plan is for a 3.30 pm or so QLD time.

FOR EVERYONE

For those that are coming - a reminder that, in order to assist the kitchen and have meals arrive in a timely manner we pre-order and pay by 3pm

We have a had a few cancellations to date, but 25 or so are planning on heading in from the North, South and West.

Can I urge people to check the weather on pre-planned routes to and from Chinchilla (wind may be more an issue than rain on way in, and the opposite on the way out, depending on route), making good common sense decisions based on conditions at the time

If people decide to not leave home or plans change enroute, can i ask that you let me know via text or a call on 0409 566 212

Look forward to seeing you all there.

Derrick

PS My inbound inland route, with a departure later this evening - straight through to Chinchilla, having extended my stay by Thursday night

Derrick Chinchilla Bound

And my spotwalla

Had to "re-think" my return trip due to Alfred and .. my Missus' advice

Return via inland it is then: My lovely wife told me to go this way link

You have to listen to smarter than you, always :)

@Derrick - thanks for your mobile number. Let me know if you need anything from Bourke - I can bring it for you.

If you want to call / text, my mobile is: 0458 808 839, or you can text me via Garmin (in my signature)

Safe travels Y'All!

Looks like the inland routes are the ones to take.

I'm heading off early Friday morning on the K1600GT, its been gathering cobwebs and is overdue for some riding.

Here's my route. https://maps.app.goo.gl/SYT65QHpAYt2yPtC9

So disappointed it hurts to post this but I won't make it out to Chinchilla. There is a list of obstacles that I feel I could safely tackle but I'm simply required here over the next couple days. I have to prioritise Bron who had a nasty flu coming into this bad weather and hasn't improved.

Our house guest Batman's Butler Alfred has arrived late and hung around too long .I thought it was interesting that this Tropical Cyclone was due to be called Anthony but they have a policy of not naming after PM's.

Lismore is flooding just not sure how bad yet it won't be 2022 levels and hopefully not 2017 just depends on today's rainfall figures.

We are safe on the hill.with a few minor trees down and despite losing power yesterday I still have cold beer and manged to cook roast lamb.

Sorry I was so looking forward to the catch up.......next time

Hiya All, what would be a world without yet another story to tell. My scooter broke down last night (overheated) with 100kms to go.
More words later - just wanted to say I'm perfectly fine, enjoying my unexpected time at Meandarra.
Luckily, the local library, even though closed, has an open wifi because Optus does not operate in this town at all, so I dont have any reception.
Talked to my wife, she is talking to my adult kids for them to drive up with a trailer and pick me up - we are from Gosford Central Coast.
So nothing to stress about, the weather is great and it's a pity but I have to send my last minute apologies.
I'll be checking the forum every hour, or so nothing much to do otherwise haha
Enjoy the muster. Oh I'm staying at Sara Cafe & Motel, next to their local ambo service.

Oh Krystof, I feel like I jinxed you last night when I posted...I'm so sorry.

Glad you made it to a town and were able to seek somewhere safe to stay & wi-fi.

There is always next year.

Like you I am also watching the forum from home this year for any updates and stories.

Thanks, @Kimmie for your kind words. Obviously you did not jinx anyone! With so much going on in my life, this is another day, with a happy ending and another story to tell. Sometimes, from my humble exp, the unsuccessful stories are the ones we enjoy reminiscing about the most.

Still sitting in the Chinchilla Tourist Park at present. Leave in the morning to head to Bundaberg. It was a good get together considering the weather onslaught. Elwyn and I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the members in attendance. Hope everyone has a safe run home. Cheers.
