I rode the Victoria highway through the night west -east. I know what you're talking about, but wants to add the wild horses to the cattle as well...

Yes I've ridden that stretch deep into the night....can be a scary one alright. I've been fortunate to not have seen horses.

Yep I'm with Frans, ohh that's right we were together lol, and the Horses are impossible to see unless they are looking at you....

One small mercy is that they will have a tail wind for some time. Although that may turn into a gale soon.

There are many +40km/h and even some +60km/h off the coast.

If the expected weather eventuates, it could get interesting north of Carnarvon tomorrow afternoon.

Check out Google maps terrain view. It doesn’t take a lot of rain to make it very difficult.

Hey, they are IBA riders, the “Worlds’ Toughest Riders” ......
They have ridden this road before, albeit not in the wet with strong winds.
But thanks for making us remote “east coasters” aware of what they might be in for.
If the conditions get that dangerous that they need to pull the pin on the ride and they do just that, then huge kudos to them.

However, let’s not get too far out front, they are riding from one stop to the next.

For these last 4 nightly rest stops of their ride they have factored in an “extra” 1hr - 1.25hrs of rest per night, which if necessary, they can nibble at, if they are behind the countdown clock. So there is some wiggle room in their ride plan.

The good news is that the rear tyre that FM stressed about is showing very little sign of wear and the possible tyre change in Perth on Saturday morning will probably not be needed.

I just got off the phone from Fatman a moment ago. They were in Hall's Creek and are stopping at Roebuck Plains R/house tonight rather than Sandfire R/house. Also will reduce sleeping hours tonight to try and reduce lost time by half. Then tomorrow night do the same which will bring them back on schedule. The're both well and going OK. Cheers.

Was just speaking with my parents in Walpole on the south coast, could be a bit damp down that way on Saturday. Hopefully Friday will be the worst of it and Fatman and Lynne will still be to the north of it. But then they'll be following/in it all the way across to.

Wet weather is nothing new to these guys, it takes the edge of fun he fun but the eat it up like bacon and eggs.

Ox-34 felt a bit guilty on not being able to intercept the 'Dynamic Duo' on their way past the Hunter, so he intends to intercept them - somewhere near Ravensthorpe - in WA!!

So, yes Ox will be pushing into the wind on his ride west and WW gear will be in his kit, but oars, flippers & brolly are probably not required for Ox.

But FM & LTP May need to pull out their WW gear and turn on their heated gear on their run into, around and south of Perth on Saturday.

They look to be back on their ride plan today at Pardoo after having toughed it through the last two days.

Looks like they're safely out of The Bronx (South Hedland) and are now focused on the run down to Geraldton.

And the BOM rain radar at Geraldton has been off line since March. Damn. Carnarvon is getting rather drenched now.
