The good news is that the rear tyre that FM stressed about is showing very little sign of wear and the possible tyre change in Perth on Saturday morning will probably not be needed.

Well turns out it only lasted 9000k having one fitted now in Karratha.

As per Gus’s post and according to LTP’s phone call, FM decided the rear was not going to make it so he changed it out now.

The good news is that the rear tyre will or should now make it home

That's ridiculous!- looks to be only half worn, even allowing for the one shoulder more worn than the other. The middle looks good for another 5000+ kays.
Looks like they've stopped nursing tyres, maintaining a healthy average since Karratha.

When Brian and I rode around the paddock and through the middle, I fitted my bike with Michelin commander 2 rear. It lasted the whole 16,500 km
They will be my go-to tyres for these longer trips

Can’t argue with how long they last Frans, but they’re pretty ordinary in the wet in my experience. Couldn’t wear them out on the Harley. Glad they got new rubber heading into all the water.

When Frans and I did oit big ride in 2017, I fitted a set of PR4 GT to the FJR, I had aux fuel, top box and swag on the bike (about the same weight as Lynne. Lol) I ran 50psi in the rear, and 45psi in the front, I completed the full 14,500 no probs, in fact the rear gave me 19,500klm, and the front I changed out at 28,000klm as I was going on a 2000klm ride and wanted to make sure they would last, excellent tyre when plenty of pressure added.

Many years ago i did the leg between Broome and port hedland on a tyre i thought would get me to Perth.
It didn't.
Something about that stretch that chews tyres.

I've got them getting into their overnight stop at Geraldton at 2:06, putting them 1:21 behind their schedule, so they're shaving a bit off the deficit.
It looks like they stopped at the Denham turnoff to put the jerrycan in the tank at 23:21 EST.

Light rain at the end of the coast. Not sure how long those pleasant weather conditions will prevail.

They haven't moved from the Overlander Roadhouse near the Denham turnoff for an hour according to SPOT. So unless it quit updating, they're taking tonight's sleep earlier than planned.
