IBA Australia Inaugural Muster

Announced in IBA style, highest to lowest number with any weird or notable snippets as the rider makes their way up. Seeing that IBA distances will be mandatory and easily categorised maybe highest IBA number SS1600 first followed by the rest of the SS1600s in descending order, then SS2000Ks, BBGs etc.
Sounds good to me.

eg Rider 62345 completing a SS1600 from Brisbane via Melbourne including hitting 2 kangaroos on the Victorian border on his BMW GSA - Fred "Blue Tongue" Brown.
Now that is something I would be dumb enough to do!!!! :p :p

Unfortunately and with intense disappointment I'm out! Sometimes taking a considered principled and yet reasonable stand on a matter isn't the easy path :(

TJ and Karl, do we have a rough head count for this event?

I realise there will always be some riders who need to withdraw for one reason or another, so how many are left?

I have to withdraw as well due to an accident at work, Malcolm who I was going to be riding with is still going & he now has a spare room booked at the Motel in Parkes for Fri Sat & Sun nights.
If anyone is interested they should message him via email: [email protected]
Thanks to the team for organising this, unfortunately 6 months of planning can be undone by 30seconds of inattention
Have a safe ride all

So sorry to hear of this Scarp, we will look forward to catching up on the next one.

At this stage, still planning to attempt the ride. One problem is relapse of MS which is taking longer to recover from. Can function fairly well but have trouble with energy levels, fatigue, some co-ordination trouble, and concentration.
Will give it a few more days then make final decision. This may turn out to be a late scratching, so understand and apologise beforehand if there is any inconvenience, fully understand possible loss of fees etc.

Schultzy, take care of yourself as number one. Talk with you soon.

Look after your self Sarge.

Ive been looking at the long range forecast for the Range and upper New England, wind chill well below zero.

I will be a withdrawal from this event.

Completely my fault. I only gave the waiver a cursory glance when signing it, and I hadn't really had a chance to participate in any forum discussions for quite a number of months. Logged on for the first time this morning, and caught up with some of the discussions. I've now re-read the waiver and cannot, as a matter of principal, reconcile myself with signing away my rights for somebody else's negligence. I'm pretty sure that would be overridden by legislation under Health and Safety, and implied duty of care, but I could be wrong.

I don't expect anything to go wrong, but there's no way I will condone telling the owner of a venue that I absolve them of any negligence.

What's done is done. I can't unsign the waiver. I won't be asking for my money back. I simply will not be attending Parkes.

Sorry, folks.

Sorry we won't see you there Pete. I was looking forward to catching up.
I only signed it because my principles are currently valued at 25% of a Spirit fare and some prebooked accommodation. I don't expect anything to go wrong either - as long as nobody at the event mentions a waiver.

Pete, I think you are right re the waiver not standing upif the venue is negligent.

However, we clearly need a waiver version 3 that fixes this.

We also need calm reasoned supportive voices to sit down and have an adult conversation with the IBA OZ team in Parkes to sort this, which means we need you.

Don't mistake this mob for the other lot that take their bat and ball and go home as soon as you disagree with them. Karl and TJ have shown themselves ready and willing to work on this.

Anyway, I've got a soft spot for bricks and would like to see yours. Please reconsider.
